Design & Innovation Award 2017: Application

More than 40 industry experts, journalists and engineers gathered last year at the Design & Innovation Awards to celebrate the most groundbreaking innovations within the cycling industry. This year the Design & Innovation Award makes a return to Kronplatz/San Vigilio – Dolomites, and is set to be bigger, better, more exciting and more varied than ever. With new categories and a pioneering industry congress with decision-makers and opinion leaders from within the world of cycling, we’re actively shaping the future.

New Categories

They asked, we responded: After pleas from the industry, the Design & Innovation Award now includes the category: ‘urban’. Moreover, the scope of mountain biking has been broadened to cover the entire spectrum from XC to downhill, leaving no discipline untouched. Products that fit into the following categories can now be submitted:

  • Road bike
  • E-MTB
  • Mountain bike
  • Urban bike
  • Equipment
  • Components
  • Tourism

A more transparent structure

To give more transparency for the 2017 edition, the Design & Innovation Award will follow a clearer structure: Alongside the leading accolade of ‘Design & Innovation Award’, a new category will join it: Pioneer.

  • Design & Innovation Award: The highest level of recognition. This exclusive accolade honors outstanding innovations, designs and superb products.
  • Pioneer: Awarding innovative concepts, studies and visionary products. Emerging products in early stages of development will be awarded for potential more than performance.

E-Mountainbike Thinktank

For the first time in the history of the Design & Innovation Award, industry representatives from across the globe will be invited to discuss the current hottest topic in cycling: E-MTBs. Over three days, the collective e-expertise from market leaders, important decision-makers and opinion leaders within the discipline and further afield will resonate around the Kronplatz. The event will be hosted by communications advisor Dirk Belling, BikeUniversity director Ruben Torenbeek and the founders of E-MOUNTAINBIKE Magazine Max-Philip and Robin Schmitt.
