Giro Empire VR70 Knit

Previously seen exploding in the sports-lifestyle sector, the knit-fabric trend has finally hit the bike industry. While some brands have incorporated the knit style for aesthetic reasons only, Californian brand Giro also takes advantage of its technical advantages. The Giro Empire VR70 Knit features a very comfortable and snug upper shoe which, in combination with the extended ankle coverage, provides for great foot support and prevents dirt from getting into the shoe. The DWR coating of the upper shoe repels dirt, while the knitted fabric allows for high breathability. Innovative details continue with the neat toe cap, the boot strap (to help you get into the shoe), as well as a plastic-coated, splash-proof upper. The Giro Empire VR70 is an aesthetically and technically outstanding gravel and mountain bike clipless shoe, which – thanks to the combination of a comfortable Vibram sole and a stiff Easton EC70 carbon core – also offers the ideal compromise between an efficient pedalling shoe and a comfortable walking trainer. All in all, Giro’s Xnetic Knit technology is an aesthetic and technical highlight!

About the Award

The Design & Innovation Award is both a seal of approval and the benchmark achievement for the bike industry’s highest-performing products. The Design & Innovation Award is more than just a title-giver or a round of applause for brands. It’s the definitive award that decisively tests products in the real world, assessing them in their entirety and reaching considered verdicts.
