Marin Wolf Ridge Pro
There are definitely arguments against the Marin Wolf Ridge Pro, but they’re largely superficial – and this, quite frankly, isn’t a beauty contest. Performance is paramount, and the Marin Wolf Ridge Pro has an insanely good feature in its R3act 2-Play rear end. The ride feel is a different take on any rear suspension we’ve ridden, and alongside the lateral compliance of the rear end, it makes for a ride that’s mind-blowing. It’s like riding a flying carpet as it swoops over roots and rocks with ease. It rides with a pleasant predictability on descents, adding confidence-inspiring stability and control. As it’s so balanced, you immediately feel at one with this bike. Fortunately, that plush downhill-focused performance comes at no cost to its climbing, which demonstrates great efficiency. Platform damping on the rear shock isn’t even necessary, and minimal pedal-induced, back-end movement is noticeable. The R3ACT design exemplifies something wholly new and shows how Marin have really pushed the envelope – it’s well-deserving of an award!
