With the Lefty Oliver, Cannondale are bringing suspension and damping technology from mountain biking to the gravel sector. With its 30 mm travel, the fork convinced our jury by effectively damping larger hits through holes, landings and rocks or roots, expanding the range of application of gravel bikes to include easy trails and mountain bike terrain. By taking the sting out of big hits that would otherwise lead to a loss of control with a rigid fork, as well as allowing a 180 mm disc rotor to be mounted, safety and security are noticeably improved as is traction on the trail. The Lefty Oliver is child’s play to set up and even beginners with no previous experience of suspension should be ready to ride within minutes. The Lefty fork is compatible with 650B as well as 700C wheels and swapping tires is quickly accomplished. The lockout works effectively, with the fork only responding to the hardest impacts. With the Lefty Oliver suspension fork, Cannondale have created the next development step for the gravel market and demonstrate how far gravel can be pushed.
