Continental Gravity Mountainbike Range

Continental want to put an end to the destructive harvesting of natural rubber in the rainforest. As a first step towards environmental sustainability, the German tire giant has switched to natural rubber from a sustainable supply chain for their Gravity Mountainbike range. To make this possible, Continental teamed up with the ‘Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)’, a service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work. The aim of this initiative is to work closely with the rural population of Indonesia to ensure a transparent supply chain and prevent deforestation, thus securing the livelihood of regional rubber farmers. To make sure that the raw material only comes from legal sources, Continental is further increasing traceability, setting an example in its sector and clearly proving that producing tires can go hand in hand with sustainability and transparency.
