With the Diverge STR, Specialized have created a flying carpet that’s ready to race out of the box. The longer and rougher the rides, the better! The Californian brand’s innovative suspension concept suspends the rider instead of the bike. Despite weighing 400 g more compared to its predecessor, the new Diverge STR retains its sprinting prowess. At the same time, it offers an unparalleled level of comfort, which isn’t just beneficial for most riders, but also for long-distance racers. The result is less exhaustion, more traction, and increased control thanks to front and rear suspension. Compared to the classic suspension design of full-suspension mountain or gravel bikes, the added weight is kept to a minimum. The geometry also remains largely the same – only the seat tube angle and cockpit height has changed. As such, the full-suspension gravel bike rides like a road bike. The suspension can be adjusted to suit a wide range of rider weights and riding styles, and you can do it on the fly. Moreover, the Diverge STR features a multitude of mounting options as well as a SWAT box in the down tube, inside which you can store snacks, a light jacket, or other riding essentials. Gravity oriented gravel riders have the option of fitting a dropper post, giving them added freedom of movement on the descents.
